Gaudete Sunday is a gentle pause in the Advent journey, a moment to let joy take root in our hearts. St. Paul’s words in Philippians 4:4-7 call us to “Rejoice in the Lord always.” This joy is not a fleeting emotion tied to our circumstances, but a steady assurance anchored in the nearness of Christ. It is the kind of joy that whispers peace even in the midst of life’s uncertainties. 

This joy does not deny our struggles but transforms them. When we bring our worries to God in prayer and thanksgiving, we create space for His peace—a peace that surpasses all understanding. True joy arises from trusting in God’s unchanging love and noticing His blessings, even in the smallest of moments. 

As Pope Francis prepares us for the Jubilee Year 2025 with the theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” we are reminded that joy and hope go hand in hand. In a world burdened by challenges, this Jubilee calls us to renewal, inviting us to rediscover the joy of walking with Christ and to share it with others as a source of healing and unity. 

This Sunday, as the rose candle is lit, let it remind us that the coming of Christ is the wellspring of all joy—a joy meant to be shared. May it inspire us to be bearers of kindness, hope, and light in a world longing for His love.

El domingo de Gaudete es una pausa suave en el caminar de Adviento, un momento para dejar que la alegría se arraigue en nuestros corazones. San Pablo nos dice en Filipenses 4, 4-7: «Alégrense siempre en el Señor». Esta alegría no es una emoción fugaz vinculada a nuestras circunstancias, sino una seguridad constante anclada en la cercanía de Cristo. Es el tipo de alegría que susurra paz incluso en medio de las incertidumbres de la vida. 

Esta alegría no niega nuestras luchas, sino que las transforma. Cuando llevamos nuestras preocupaciones a Dios en oración y acción de gracias, creamos espacio para su paz, una paz que supera todo entendimiento. La verdadera alegría surge de confiar en el amor inmutable de Dios y notar Sus bendiciones, incluso en los momentos más pequeños. 

Mientras el Papa Francisco nos prepara para el Año Jubilar 2025 con el tema «Peregrinos de esperanza», se nos recuerda que la alegría y la esperanza van de la mano. En un mundo cargado de desafíos, este Jubileo nos llama a la renovación, invitándonos a redescubrir la alegría de caminar con Cristo y a compartirla con los demás como fuente de sanación y unidad. 

Este domingo, mientras se enciende la vela rosada, dejemos que nos recuerde que la venida de Cristo es la fuente de todo gozo, un gozo destinado a ser compartido. Que ella nos inspire a ser portadoras de bondad, esperanza y luz en un mundo que anhela su amor.
