Celebrating the Eucharist is at the very heart of our faith. Some members of our community are unable to be present for our liturgies because of hospitalization, serious illness, injury, or other circumstance. Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick work quietly, diligently, and lovingly to bring Our Lord to those who would not otherwise receive communion. A typical visit consists of a Greeting, Penitential Rite, Liturgy of the Word, Intercessions, Liturgy of Holy Communion, Communion, and Prayer after Communion.
In addition to taking communion to the sick in their homes and other locations, ministers visit the Highland Manor Care Facility. On the first Friday of every month, they assist at Mass for the residents at Manor Nursing Home. Every Thursday ministers/deacons lead the rosary and present a short scripture reading for residents at the Manor Assisted Living, followed by communion. Every Friday (other than the first) ministers/deacons lead the rosary and present a short scripture reading for residents at the Highland Manor Nursing Home. Ministers also make a weekly visit to Holiday Manor on various days mornings, where they share scripture readings, followed by communion.
New Ministers Always Welcome
The Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick welcomes new volunteers. All that is required is your time (varies depending on the need), your compassion, and your willingness to serve Our Lord. Training is provided by current ministers.
